Cosmo Alexandre was promoted to Purple Belt in Brazilian Jiu-jitsu by Marcelo Nigue with Gene Simco. Nigue is Cosmo's first MMA coach; In this exclusive interview, Cosmo explains, "Nigue is the best ... we can just train like four or five days and it would be like one year with another guy."

Brazil's Best Striker Training at NYMAG

The Muay Thai world champion, one of the best strikers in the World, Cosmo Alexandre is getting ready for his MMA debut, which is set to go down this coming September in the Brazilian city of Santos at an event being put together by the winner of the Big Brother Brazil reality show Marcelo Dourado and black belt Marcelo Nigue. Marcelo Nigue Leads Bitetti Team!

Brazilian Jiu-jitsu Legend and Founder of Bitetti Combat, Amaury Bitetti and World Champion Marcelo Nigue have created a new team with hopes of expanding throughout the world. Currently, Bitetti Team has schools run by Marcelo primarily in Sao Paul Brazil. They have just announced the affiliation with their first US school in New York. Amaury and Marcelo visited NYMAG (New York Martial Arts Gym), run by Marcelo's only American Black Belt, Gene Simco where they conducted a seminar and Promotion Ceremonies.

Marcelo is excited about the new project and has hopes of spreading throughout the world. He has called upon his Black Belt, Gene Simco to head their first US affiliate in New York. Simco comments:

“Nigue contacted me recently and asked me to be a part of his new team. A few years ago, I had stopped training full time due to some injuries, but stayed active as an instructor. Nigue is a great teacher who motivates me to continue my training and inspires me to overcome adversity. I’m proud to be his representative in the US.”

Marcelo will continue to teach full time in Sao Paulo, Brazil and make frequent visits to New York, while Simco manages the New York school full time.

Marcelo talks about the new partnership:  “We’re going to compete in everything: Jiu-Jitsu, submission wrestling and MMA. We already have fifteen professional athletes and we’re going after new talent. I’ve represented Master Royler Gracie for some time, but Gracie Humaitá has been totally revamped and I wouldn’t be able to use the name “Memorial” anymore, which is who is backs me in Santos. I made the most of Amaury’s invitation and we’re going to put everything we have into this new MMA team,”
